Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film ‘Jailer 2’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is set to arrive in theatres on October 15. Ahead of its release, reports suggest that the Andhra Pradesh government has approved a temporary ticket price hike for the film during its opening week.

The revised rates will apply to single-screen theatres and multiplexes for seven days.

‘Jailer 2’ ticket prices hiked in Andhra Pradesh

According to News18, the approved order allows single-screen theatres to charge an additional Rs 50 per ticket, while multiplexes can levy an extra Rs 75 over their regular ticket prices. The revised rates will remain in effect from October 15 to October 21, covering five shows per day. The application seeking the price increase was submitted through Sithara Entertainments, which is handling the film’s distribution in Andhra Pradesh. The state regulates cinema ticket prices through prescribed maximum rates for single screens and multiplexes. Any increase beyond the permitted limits requires government approval. For ‘Jailer 2’, the reported approval allows theatres to charge the higher rates during the film’s first seven days of release.

‘Ranabaali’ to release at regular ticket prices

The reported ticket price hike comes during the Dussehra release period. Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Ranabaali’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 16, a day after ‘Jailer 2’.

The production house behind ‘Ranabaali’ has reportedly denied seeking permission for a ticket price increase. Consequently, the film is expected to release at regular ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while ‘Jailer 2’ will have government-approved higher rates in Andhra Pradesh.

The two releases will therefore enter the festive box-office window under different ticket-pricing arrangements in the state.
