Sara Duterte impeachment trial: AMLC chief, 2 provincial execs subpoenaed

The Senate impeachment court has issued a subpoena to the head of the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and two officials of the provincial government as discussions continue to revolve around Vice President Sara Duterte's alleged unexplained wealth.

During the 30th day of the impeachment trial of Duterte, Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis "Chiz" Escudero said that AMLC executive director Ronel Buenaventura is expected to appear on October 1 to 2.

Further, subpoenas were also issued to two provincial officials to testify on the properties of Duterte's husband Manases Carpio.

Davao City Register of Deeds IV Kathy Florence Baldonado is expected to comment about Carpio's alleged property in Matina.

Likewise, City of Samal Deputy Register of Deeds III Marco Pineda is called to appear about a property in Island Garden City registered in the name of Carpio.

The subpoenas for Baldonado and Pineda cover September 30 to October 2.

The net worth of Duterte and her husband reached more than P98 million in 2025, an 11.46% increase from their 2024 net worth based on their joint Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).

GMA News Research found that the Duterte-Carpio couple declared a net worth of P98,656,131.20 in 2025. The net worth they declared in the prior year was P88 million.

On the other hand, their declared total assets were P122,797,727.20, which is a 24.72% increase from the P98 million in 2024.

The Senate impeachment court is tackling Article 2 of the Articles of Impeachment, which specifically alleges that the Vice President accumulated unexplained wealth through the following:

• failure to fully and truthfully disclose all her and her spouse's assets, liabilities, and net worth in her statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN), including in her SALN for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024; and
• failure to divest and instead, willfully continued all her business interests during her tenure as vice president for the years 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
