Dublin Guardians snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as the side’s quest for a maiden win in the European T20 Premier League 2026 remains elusive thanks to its latest loss to Amsterdam Flames at the Hague on Saturday.

After restricting Flames to 169/7 in 20 overs, Guardians made a mess of the chase. After losing Daryl Mitchell in the third over, James Vince and Harry Tector added 66 runs off 36 balls before Tector fell to Tim Pringle. VInce then added 34 runs off 25 balls with Sanjay Krishnamurthi before being dismissed by Richard Gleeson in the 13th over.

From there on, Guardians lost the plot. After being 114 for two, the side eventually fell nine runs short of the target, condemning the outfit to its fifth loss on the trot.

The two Indians in the fray, Ravichandran Ashwin and Vijay Shankar had ordinary outings as well. Vijay Shankar conceded 15 runs in the solitary over he bowled. Ashwin dismissed TIm David with his trademark carrom ball. David tried to the pull the ball for a boundary but it ended up in Harry Tector’s hands at long-on. Ashwin even attempted a new action when bowling against Steve Smith, who made a 27-ball 38 for Flames.

With the bat, Vijay Shankar managed a run-a-ball 16 while Ashwin was bowled by Pringle for one off two balls.
