Anthony Boyle To Play Seducer-For-Hire In Sky Drama ‘Charmer’

Anthony Boyle (House of Guinness) will play a seducer hired to test the fidelity of his wealthy clients partners in Charmer, the latest drama series from Sky.
He will star in the steamy eight-partner alongside Siena Kelly (Black Mirror), Connor Swindells (The Entertainment System is Down) and Sophie Wilde (Digger). Also in the cast are Sam Delich, Vivian Oparah, Neil Maskell, Karan Gill, Sophie Simnett and Polly Walker.
The show has gone into production at Sky Studios Elstree, with Working Title and Story Films making in in association with Universal Global Television and Sky Studios. It will air on Sky and streamer Now in the UK and Italy, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handling international sales.
Per the synopsis, Charmer follows “an ambitious group of thirty-something Londoners whose lives are turned upside down by Ryan (Boyle), a seducer-for-hire employed to test the fidelity of his wealthy clients’ partners. As a wedding day draws closer, an assignment becomes personal, threatening the professional distance that has always underpinned Ryan’s work. As deception gives way to desire, Ryan risks breaking the one rule that has always defined him: never fall in love.”
The announcement comes just hours before the UK’s biggest TV industry event, the Edinburgh TV Festival, gets underway. This will be the final one held in Scotland’s capital before moving to Manchester, England, next year.
Thomas Aspell has created and written the show, with Elliot Hegarty is the director. Melissa Bubnic, Constance Cheng and Anna Ssemuyaba write additional episodes, with Dionne Edwards directing block two.
Executive producers are Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Surian Fletcher-Jones and Simon Hatton for Working Title Television, David Nath and Peter Beard for Story Films, Aspell and Hegarty. Josh Wilkins serves as co-executive producer. Commissioning Editor Manpreet Dosanjh is EP for Sky. The series producer is Charlotte Surtees.
Meghan Lyvers, Managing Director of Scripted Originals at Sky, said; “Charmer is exactly the kind of bold, original storytelling we champion at Sky. Tom has crafted a brilliantly distinctive take on modern love, brought to life by an exceptional cast led by Anthony, Siena, Connor and Sophie.”
Boyle is repped by B-Side, WME, Tapestry London and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
