‘East of Eden’ Hits 6.5 Million Views in Four Days on Netflix

Translate

“East of Eden” amassed 6.5 million views in its first four days of streaming on Netflix.

That total took the John Steinbeck adaptation to the No. 1 spot on the streamer’s weekly TV rankings. Created by Zoe Kazan and starring Florence Pugh, the project has given the 1953 Steinbeck novel renewed popularity, with Penguin Classics seeing a 200% increase in sales since Netflix announced the greenlight.

But the most-watched Netflix title overall during the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4 was on the movies chart: “Unabomber,” starring Jacob Tremblay, hit 24.9 million views in its second week of streaming. “The Widower: ’Til Death Do Us Part” and “Tyler Perry’s Doing Life” also outranked the week’s top TV titles, taking the second and third spots on the movies chart with 11.6 million and 9.3 million views, respectively.

Back on the TV chart, “East of Eden” was followed by “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story,” which achieved 5.7 million views in its third week of streaming.
