Unit sales of motor vehicles, published by the Bureau of Economic Analysis at the beginning of each month, include domestic sales and imports.
Sales are expected down slightly at a 16.6 million unit rate in September versus 16.8 million in August.
8:30 AM Employment Situation
The most closely watched of all economic indicators, the employment situation is a set of monthly labor market indicators based on two separate reports: the establishment survey, which tracks 650,000 worksites and offers the nonfarm payroll and average hourly earnings headlines, and the household survey, which interviews 60,000 households and generates the unemployment rate.
Payrolls are expected up a decent 85K after rising a big 162K in August. The jobless rate is seen as flat at 4.1 percent.
10:00 AM Factory Orders
Factory orders represent the dollar level of new orders for both durable and nondurable goods.
Orders are expected to be flat, reflecting durable goods already reported flat for August.
