Paulo Londra Breaks Down 5 Essential Tracks From New Album ‘entre CIELOS’

Translate

Nearly four years after Back To The Game (2022), Paulo Londra is back with his third studio album — and this time, he says he approached the project differently. Released on Oct. 21 under Dale Play Records, entre CIELOS was born from a process in which the Argentine rapper learned to listen more, take his time to decide and allow himself to be surprised by sounds he might not have so easily incorporated before.

“I used to be very young, very impulsive,” Londra tells Billboard Español. Now, alongside Lisan Beat and Tiano, he found a much more collaborative dynamic, marked by their shared love of rap and freestyle — but also influenced by new references that ultimately pushed him in different directions. “I made peace with waiting; I made peace with consulting opinions,” he explains about the LP, which took him about a year to create. During the process, he says they worked on around 40 songs before deciding which ones truly fit together within the project.

All of this is reflected in an album that explores different moods, ranging from raw rap and trap to more danceable tracks, elements of indie rock and even an unexpected foray into bachata — a genre Londra has listened to since childhood but had not ventured into until now. On “hIGhLIGhTS,” the second and final teaser track released before the album following “me asfixia LA CIUDAD,” he also revisits sounds from the early 2000s, with nods to hip-hop from that era.

“Someone told me, ‘Hey, I notice you’re very bright, very happy,’” Londra recalls about one of the reactions he received while working on the set, words that resonated with him because they matched how he felt during the process — appreciating the ability to keep making music, his health and the simpler things in life.

“There are all kinds of moods” in this album, he adds. “If you want something chill, there’s something more chill; if you want to drive… I think I managed the balance well. I included rap, I included a raw rap track, I included a trap track, and then all the other songs are more cheerful, more upbeat, more for other vibes.”

With the release, the singer behind hits like “Adán y Eva,” “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 23” with Bizarrap and “A Veces” with Feid is also preparing for his return to the stage in Argentina. He has a concert scheduled for Nov. 28 at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires and another on Dec. 3 at the Quality Arena in Córdoba, where he’ll perform the new songs alongside the hits that have defined his career.

Below, Londra breaks down five essential tracks from entre CIELOS. Listen to the full album here:

  • “No PAIN no GAIN”

If I have to list [my most essential tracks from the album], the No. 1 is the rap song that opens the album, because I love remembering how I made it. I was on a plane to Viña [del Mar, Chile], just like the song says, and I like that in the very first bar I mention Isa, Fran, Justi and Martina — my girlfriend and my three daughters — because I feel like they put me in a very strong mood, and people expect that from me.

  • “angelical”

For me, it’s No. 2, because it seems very, very cheerful, very festive. It makes me feel nostalgic, makes me want to go out — like those songs from before, you know? Like “Llamado de Emergencia,” Daddy Yankee’s hit released in 2008. That’s how I feel about it, I swear.

  • “hasta que LLEGUE YO”

This one is very cheerful. It starts with a piano, and I always play it for my daughter because she starts to dance. I say something about a princess, and she acts like a princess — she goes crazy. Kids are a good gauge for a song, and they really love this one.

  • “alucinaCIONES”

I always wanted to make a bachata, and with Lisan Beat and Tiano, I made it happen. I love bachata — I’ve liked it ever since I was little — but I never had the confidence to create one. Time went by, and it finally came together with them. They managed to create this beat that feels like a bachata, but more modern, with a unique bass that sounds almost like trap, even though the essence of bachata is still there.

[As for the lyrics], I’ve always been drawn to the paranormal world, and that’s why I wanted to play with the idea of hallucinations — mixing that strange, supernatural side with something romantic.

  • “hIGhLIGhTS”

It’s one of my essentials because it reminds me a lot of the early 2000s, of that hip-hop sound from that era. I love “hIGhLIGhTS” because of the instrumental; I feel like it has a lot of merit. Also, because of my delivery, as I dared to loosen up more with English, and I feel like I’m pronouncing it better.
