TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains references to suicide.RJ Mitte, who was best known for his role on the hit show ‘Breaking Bad,' passed away a few days ago by suicide. The beloved star had appeared in many TV shows and other projects over the years.

RJ Mitte’s mom talks about her son’s passing

While talking to NBC News about her son’s passing, she shared that she had called him the day it happened; however, he had not responded to her calls. “I called him at 11. He didn’t answer. I picked up lunch and went to take it to him, and that’s when I discovered him.” Dyna further explained that Mitte would often sleep until noon, which is why she had not been worried about him at the time. She later detailed how the suicide was possibly a “spur-of-the-moment” decision since the 34-year-old had left no note. While talking about his mental health, she further shared that he had been struggling with some issues at the time of his passing. “For the last three months, I’d been offering for him to go to therapy, trying to get him to go there, but he was like, ‘No, I’ve got it. It’s OK. I’m handling it,’” she added.

RJ Mitte’s mother shares why she chose to speak about this now

Dyna also detailed how she wanted to speak up about this and about mental health because of how helpful starting the conversation can be. “If speaking out today might save someone else from going through the same situation, because a mother should never have to find their child this way. If I can say one person is helped, I think that’s what RJ would expect," she mentioned. She concluded the interview by sharing, “We all go through heartbreak in our lives, and we all deal with it differently.

If I had known anything and could have done anything different, I truly would have. I would have given my life for his life.”

RJ Mitte had cerebral palsy, a neurological condition he was diagnosed with at the age of three. Prior to his passing, the actor had spoken out about financial issues that had been caused by a former business manager who had diverted funds meant to pay his taxes. He was also engaged to Kennedy Suarez at the time of his passing.DISCLAIMER: If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depression, or mental illness, please seek professional help immediately from a doctor, mental health expert, or NGO.
