Bandai Namco Cross Store & The Gundam Base's Openings at Mall of America Delayed
Bandai Namco Amusement America Inc. announced on Sunday that it is postponing the planned openings of the Bandai Namco Cross Store Minneapolis, MN and The Gundam Base store Minneapolis at the Mall of America from their originally scheduled September 30 date. The company will "share the new opening date as soon as it is confirmed, along with more details about what you can expect when we open.”
The postponements come just over a year after the opening of the first permanent North American Bandai Namco Cross Store and The Gundam Base store in New York City and Chicago respectively. Bandai Namco Amusement America opened the Bandai Namco Cross Store in Brooklyn, New York City in February 2025 with 10 department shops to “showcase the different Bandai Namco brands.”

Gundam Base Chicago opened in December 2025 at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont, Illinois. The store features exclusive Gundam plastic model kits and merchandise, the Gundam Card Game, a play area for events, exhibit displays, a six-foot-tall (two-meter-tall) Gundam statue, and limited-edition promotional items.
Bandai Namco Amusement operates 13 Bandai Namco Cross Store locations in Japan. The company opened its first Bandai Namco Cross Store outside of Japan in Camden, London in August 2023, followed by one in Birmingham. It also opened smaller Gashapon shops in the United Kingdom in Victoria Place in November 2023, and then in Ealing, Brighton's North Street, and Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre in December 2023. (The locations in Victoria Place and Meadowhall are no longer open, but there are Gashapon areas in Namco Funscape locations throughout the country.)
