Bridge Independent has boarded psychological horror film “Henry’s Ebb,” which stars Kingston Rumi Southwick, one of the stars of “Widow’s Bay.” The film makes its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

“Henry’s Ebb,” written and directed by Thomas Mendolia in his feature debut, also stars Banks Repeta (“The Black Phone”), Ashley Shelton and Will Holland, with supporting performances from Rebecca Koon and Austin Willard.

The film follows Henry, a boy who flees his troubled home in search of the father he barely remembers, accompanied by Ebb, the imaginary friend Henry created to help him survive a tumultuous childhood. But as their journey leads them through the backroads of the American South, Ebb’s protection becomes increasingly controlling, forcing Henry to question the companion he has always trusted.

Bill Straus of Bridge Independent is handling domestic sales, with Logan Taylor of New Ratio Films serving as sales and distribution consultant.

The film is produced by Ford Films’ Lucas Ford and Joey LePage, with Tony Tehle and Irina Slepneva serving as co-producers.

“Henry’s Ebb” was previously selected for the Frontières Buyers Showcase at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival.

The film will have its U.S. premiere at Cucalorus Film Festival in North Carolina, where the production was filmed and set.

In a statement, Mendolia spoke about Elkin, North Carolina, the town in which he grew up and where he shot the film: “Elkin exists in my mind as both magical and painful, and that duality felt essential to the story. I wrote it around real locations from my memory, and knew that shooting here was crucial. Henry moves through a world that is full of wonder, but also shaped by the complicated lives of the adults around him. Setting the film there allowed those two feelings to coexist in the same space.”
