Amy Poehler Tells Noah Wyle ‘The Pitt’ Needs More Romance: If You’re ‘Gonna Show the Guts, You Gotta Show Some Butts’

Amy Poehler sat down with Noah Wyle on Tuesday’s episode of her “Good Hang” podcast to discuss both “ER” and “The Pitt” on the heels of his People’s Sexiest Man Alive appointment. She also used her time with the actor to provide some feedback on the lack of romance in the latter of the hit medical shows.

“You’re not asking me for feedback on ‘The Pitt,’ but I’m going to give you a little bit of feedback,” Poehler began. “If you’re going to show so much guts and blood, if you’re gonna go there — and your makeup team is incredible. The stuff you do is bananas. I don’t watch most of it. I cover my eyes, but I mean, I can’t take it — But if you’re going to show that much, every time you got to get a little smooch. Someone’s gotta do a little smooch.”

Wyle, unconvinced, responded: “Oh, you think it’s one for one?” “One for one, just a tiny smooch,” continued Poehler. “Just one middle of the day [smooch]!” Wyle remained unmoved, though he did say that he would “maybe” discuss a “one-to-four ratio, but certainly not one to one.” Poehler concluded, “You gonna show the guts, you gotta show some butts.” (Wyle pointed out that they do show butts on “The Pitt,” just not in romantic contexts.)

Wyle has played the disgruntled attending physician Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch for two seasons of HBO’s drama “The Pitt.” His portrayal of the doctor won him the Golden Globe for best performance by a male actor in a television series, drama in 2026, and back-to-back Emmy awards for best actor in a drama series in both 2025 and 2026.

Season 3 of the hit medical drama is set to premiere in Jan. 2027 and will follow Dr. Robby’s first day back on the job after a three-month sabbatical at the end of Season 2.
