Senior NHS surgeon suspended for telling Jews to ‘shove your prophets up your stinky ass’

A senior NHS doctor has been suspended after publishing "antisemitic" posts that told Jewish people to "shove all your prophets up your stinky ass".

Dr Muhammad Khalil made a series of "seriously offensive" posts on Instagram, claiming that Muslims will wipe Jews "completely from the face of the earth".

Another post by the doctor, who was employed at an NHS hospital in Liverpool, featured the Israeli flag with the phrase "death to Israel" written above the Star of David.

The senior clinical fellow also made antisemitic claims regarding Western propaganda in the Middle East and the Jewish CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, following the outbreak of war in Gaza in October 2023.

Following a misconduct hearing, Dr Khalil has now been suspended from working for nine months.

He was found to have shared posts suggesting that "multi-billion dollar social media platforms were controlled by or adversely influenced by Jews whereby the ‘real truth’ was not being reported".

Dr Khalil qualified in Egypt in 2001 and worked as a vascular surgery trainee before moving to the UK in 2015.

He had worked at the Royal Free Hospital and at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust prior to moving to Aintree University Hospital as a senior clinical fellow of vascular surgery.

In October 2023, he maintained an Instagram account that contained several pictures of him, including images of him dressed in medical scrubs.

Other posts read "the Israeli and western fabrication of news that started on 7/10 is shameless and unprecedented" and "this’s not strange from people who are addicted to stealing everything; land, resources, heritage and the history of others and claim all of that to them" [sic].

He also spoke about Israeli and Western propaganda starting "to demonise what happened and spread pathetic lies".

Another post said: "The whole Meta scandal is going on… Multi-billion social media platforms that support the Zionists with audacity and still terrified from and annoyed by our individual posts that try to show the real truth."

He also put out messages quoting former Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser saying: "As the real defeat will be if Israel continues to exist even as a tiny symbol in a small village.

"The real victory for us then will be the complete annihilation and eradication of Israel."

A final post said: "This‘s an average Israeli Zionist idiot! We, the Arabs, are going to wipe you completely from the face of the earth! You can shove your Torah, your Talmud, your Moses and all your prophets up your stinky ass.”

Concerns were originally made to the General Medical Council (GMC) in October 2023 that Dr Khalil had been making antisemitic and hateful posts on Instagram.

The matter was reported to the police but no action was taken.

However, he has now appeared before the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service, where a panel ruled that he should be suspended for nine months due to some of the posts being "objectively antisemitic".

When asked about the posts, he said he would never do it again, claiming he was "emotional" and it was a "mistake".

Chairing the hearing, Malcolm Dodds said: "The tribunal took the view that it was seriously offensive since from an objective view a reasonable person looking at the image and reading the words ‘death to Israel’ would consider it such.

"Dr Khalil’s post referred to Meta founded by Mark Zuckerberg who is widely known to be of Jewish heritage.

"The Tribunal was satisfied that from an objective view this post implied that Meta and multi-billion dollar social media platforms were controlled by or adversely influenced by Jews whereby the ‘real truth’ was not being reported.

"These comments rehearsed the trope of Jews controlling and/or adversely influencing the media.

"The Tribunal considered that these assertions fell outside legitimate debate and criticism of Israel and its supporters and were objectively antisemitic.

"The Tribunal was satisfied that the words: ‘You can shove your Torah, your Talmud, your Moses and all your prophets up your stinky ass’ were particularly offensive and upsetting.

"The words referred offensively to the Jewish holy book and a key figure for Jews, Moses, as well as Jewish prophets generally.

"Dr Khalil’s posts were antisemitic and seriously offensive posts and in one post supportive of violence. His first post clearly identified him as a doctor.

"The Tribunal also was satisfied that Dr Khalil’s misconduct would be regarded as deplorable by fellow practitioners.

"However this is not a case of a doctor adopting or forwarding someone else’s post. He consciously created each of his five posts.

"Given his experience and seniority he should have known of the requirements of GMP and followed them.

"The Tribunal has found the level of current and ongoing risk to public protection is high whereby, although patient safety is not an issue, suspension is needed to maintain public confidence in the profession and/or maintain professional standards."
