Disney+ Strikes Streaming Bundle and Content-Sharing Deal With Indonesia’s Vidio

Translate

Disney+ is joining forces with Indonesia’s leading streamer Vidio, creating a new local subscription bundle and content-sharing partnership that adds to the Hollywood giant’s expanding network of distribution alliances across Asia-Pacific.

Announced Thursday, the deal will create the Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle, which combines access to the two companies’ content offerings under a single subscription. The package brings Disney’s films, global franchises and Asian originals together with Vidio’s Indonesian programming, live television and sports rights, including Premier League soccer, the UEFA Champions League and Indonesia’s BRI Super League.

The new partners are also creating a funnel for the bundle within Vidio’s standard standalone subscription. All Vidio users will also gain access to a “Taste of Disney+” collection within Vidio, featuring select episodes of titles including Korean drama Flex X Cop’s second season, crime comedy High Potential, children’s series Sofia the First and Grey’s Anatomy. The selection will be refreshed periodically, serving as a sampler intended to encourage subscribers to upgrade to the new bundle.

The companies are also developing a reciprocal arrangement that would give Disney+ subscribers access to a curated selection of Vidio originals and Indonesian television soaps, known as sinetron. The partners said the details for that component are still under discussion.

The new partners did not disclose pricing for the new bundle, nor overall financial terms.

“By bringing Disney+’s beloved films and award-winning series together with Vidio’s local entertainment ecosystem, we’re elevating the streaming experience for fans and new audiences. Indonesia is an incredibly exciting market for Disney+, and we’re delighted to collaborate with Vidio,” said Tony Zameczkowski, Disney’s senior vp and general manager of direct-to-consumer, Asia-Pacific. “This announcement is part of our focus on accelerating collaborations to expand the reach, engagement and fandom of Disney+ in APAC.”

The deal continues Disney’s recent strategy of expanding its reach and programming in Asia through partnerships with top local players. Similar arrangements are already in place with South Korea’s TVING and Hulu Japan, broadcasters SPOTV and Astro, and Japanese content company TBS.

The distribution push comes alongside a significant expansion of Disney’s own international production. The company plans to roughly triple Disney+’s annual output of international original series over the next three years, from around 60 to 70 shows this year. Asia-Pacific is a key part of that drive, with Disney building on Korean hits such as Perfect Crown and fortune-telling competition Battle of Fates, while expanding its Japanese programming and adding more romance to its regional slate.

For Vidio, the deal brings premium content to an offering already anchored by local entertainment and live sports. The company says it has produced more than 110 original series. According to research from regional consultancy Media Partners Asia, Vidio has ranked first among Indonesia’s streaming platforms for viewership over the past four years.

“Through our collaboration with Disney+, we’re bringing together two complementary entertainment experiences into one of Indonesia’s most complete premium entertainment offerings,” added Vidio CEO Sutanto Hartono. “As entertainment consumption continues to evolve, audiences are looking for greater choice and better value from their subscriptions. With the launch of ‘Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle’, we’re making it easier than ever for Indonesian audiences to enjoy the best of local stories, global entertainment, and world-class sports through a single, more compelling subscription offering.”
