EXCLUSIVE: The Trial of Louise Woodward, HBO‘s true-crime limited series from creator Matthew Barry, has added three more to its starry cast: Jack Reynor (Lee Cronin’s The Mummy), John Magaro (The Agency), and Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things).

Reynor plays Gerry Leone, the lead prosecutor in the show’s central trial. Magaro plays lead defense counsel Barry Scheck, with Dyer as Middlesex County assistant district attorney Ada Lynn Rooney.

The trio joins a cast led by Catriona Chandler in the title role. Joanne Froggatt, Meghann Fahy, Sagar Radia, Chloë Sevigny, and Hugh Laurie also star.

The Trial of Louise Woodward tells the shocking true story of how, in 1997, an 18-year-old British au pair (Chandler) was accused of shaking to death a baby left in her care by her American host family, setting off an international media firestorm as the trial unfolds in full view of both the British and American public.

As previously announced, Froggatt plays Louise’s mother, Susan, with Fahy and Radia as Deborah and Sunil Eappen — parents of the victim, Matthew Eappen. Sevigny plays defense attorney Elaine Whitfield Sharp, with Laurie as Judge Hiller B. Zobel, who presided over the murder trial.

Barry wrote the series, serves as showrunner and is exec producing alongside Susanne Bier, who directs all episodes, as well as Frank Spotnitz, Emily Feller, Tobi de Graaff, and Antoine Douaihy. Big Light Productions and Anton TV are the production companies.

An Irish-American actor known for roles in the likes of Midsommar and Flora and Son, Reynor has recently been seen in John Carney’s Power Ballad, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, and the second season of Prime Video’s Citadel. Upcoming, he’ll be seen starring in the second season of Apple’s Presumed Innocent, Amazon MGM’s Seasons, and the remake of Japanese film A Colt Is My Passport from Amazon MGM’s Orion Pictures. He is repped by WME, Range, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Known for projects like Past Lives and First Cow, Magaro also stars in Presumed Innocent Season 2, as well as Paramount+’s The Agency. Upcoming, he’ll be seen starring alongside Jeremy Allen White, Mandy Patinkin and Isabella Rossellini in Jeremiah Zagar’s The Painted Bride. He is repped by UTA, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Felker McGinnis & Ryan.

Best known for playing Nancy Wheeler in Netflix’s Stranger Things, Dyer will next be seen starring alongside Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse in Amazon MGM’s rom-com Goodbye Girl. She is repped by Circle Management + Production, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
