Yung Miami had dreams of having Drake hop on the remix of her platinum-certified “Spend Dat” summer anthem, but the 6 God didn’t even reply when the City Girls rapper reached out.

Miami stopped by Hot 97 to promote her Watch Dis solo debut album, which also arrived on Friday (Oct. 23). The rapper revealed that when she messaged Drake about getting a verse, he ended up leaving her on read.

“Drake left me on read, I don’t know. I’m like, ‘Drake, what did I do?’ I love Drake. I f–king love Drake,” she repeated. “Just tell me no. I’m good with a no, but leaving me on read?”

The 32-year-old continued to shower Drizzy with praise and show love to the OVO rapper. “I just respect Drake. Drake is Drake, period,” she said. “I’ve always been a Drake fan, always gave him his flowers, personally love Drake, never rode the hate train. I personally love him, but I get it. When you go through things in the industry, that sh-t’ll make you look at everybody differently.”

This wasn’t the first time she tried to notch a Drake collaboration. She told Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast in June that she messaged the 6 God about hopping on a track titled “Take Me to Chanel,” which landed on her debut with features from Quavo and G Herbo.

“I was trying to get him on the song,” she said. “Like, I remember DMing him, but that’s at the time when he was going through all his sh-t. And when people are going through their sh-t, like, I get it. I understand. It’s just like, ‘I gotta focus on me right now,’ because these people trying to take me out. I can understand that, so I didn’t take it personally.”

Miami recalled: “I was like, Drake, I think you would sound good on ‘Take Me to Chanel.’ He just liked the thing. He just liked the message. I’m like, come on now, don’t do that, Drake. Don’t do that now. Because, when you called me, I was there. But nah, I f–k with Drake. I understand.”

Kodak Black and Lil Baby ended up appearing on the “Spend Dat” remix, which reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 (No. 17 peak). Miami also recruited Vybz Kartel and Shenseea for the international remix to her hit.

Back in 2018, Yung Miami and Drake connected when he gave the City Girls a massive boost by featuring JT and Miami on Scorpion‘s “In My Feelings” and had them appear in the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 smash’s visual.

Miami’s Watch Dis debut arrived on Friday with guest appearances from Rick Ross, Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller and more.
