The Resident Evil Remake Switch 2 Ports Look and Feel Great
Long time Resident Evil (known as Biohazard in Japan) fans and Nintendo Switch 2 owners don't need to fret with the new Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. Based on my time with the The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2026 demos, the games looked fantastic on the Switch 2 screen and played great with the Joy-Con 2's.
One of the worries Resident Evil fans may have had with a Switch 2 port of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is how the games appear on the small Switch 2 LCD screen. Luckily, the systems built-in 7.9-inch LCD screen with Full HD 1080p resolution and 120 Hz maximum refresh rate handles the games well, with smooth visuals and no motion blur.
There was one aspect of the visuals I had to double check, though. The color saturation for the Resident Evil games appeared a bit muted on the Switch 2's screen. I wasn't sure if this was because of the screen or part of the game's presentation. Thankfully, the TGS play area ANN was in had full size LCD screens that you could also connect to, and the coloring looked the same.
The Joy-Con 2's also work fine. There is little to no lag between inputting commands and the characters executing them. If there is one thing new Switch 2 players want to be careful with, though, is the relative size of the Joy-Con 2's and proximity of the buttons to each other. In comparison to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S controllers, the Joy-Con 2's buttons are packed in a bit. But, once you acclimate to the size of the controllers, players won't have any issues playing Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on the Switch 2.
If you're a fan of Resident Evil on the fence about purchasing these games for the Switch 2, you'll be in for a good time. And if you're a newcomer to the franchise, the Switch 2 ports are well worth playing.
