Coaches James Hopes and Brad Haddin watch training, IPL 2025, March 24, 2025

James Hopes and Brad Haddin have both taken over Australian domestic sides  •  Punjab Kings

James Hopes and Brad Haddin have left their respective positions as fast-bowling coach and fielding coach of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL.

The exits leave PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting with a significant vacuum to fill in his support staff, with Sairaj Bahutule, who served as spin-bowling coach in IPL 2026, having taken over the same role with India's men's team.

Hopes, who had previously been part of his former Australia team-mate Ponting's staff at Delhi Capitals too, spent two seasons at PBKS. Haddin had even been part of the PBKS backroom since 2022, during Trevor Bayliss' tenure as head coach.

Both Hopes and Haddin are presently involved in Sheffield Shield action, with Queensland facing Western Australia in Perth and New South Wales meeting Tasmania in Sydney.
