Euromatch NPFL: Ikorodu City Coach Praises Players’ Resilience After Draw Against Doma United

Translate

Ikorodu City assistant coach Washington Egor has praised his players for their resilience and determination following their dramatic 2-2 draw against Doma United in the Nigeria Premier Football League,NPFL.

The Oga Boys produced an impressive performance in the Matchday 11 encounter played at the Pantami Stadium on Saturday, despite the long journey to Gombe.

Doma United took the lead in the 19th minute through Bitrus Philemon, who converted a penalty.

However, Ikorodu City responded five minutes later, with Tomiwa Awojobi finding the equaliser to restore parity.

The visitors looked set to claim all three points after Ujunwa Elijah scored in the 85th minute to give Ikorodu City a 2-1 advantage.

However, Philemon struck again deep into stoppage time, denying the Lagos-based side victory and securing a point for the hosts.

Egor Talks Up Away Draw

Egor commended his players for their fighting spirit, particularly after travelling by road for almost 24 hours.

“I want to give kudos to the players for showing resilience in the game despite the distance covered in travelling by road to Gombe,” Egor told NPFL media.

“Our intention was to pick the maximum points, but a point is good for our pains.

“Travelling down for almost 24 hours and picking a point far back in the north is a big motivation for us ahead of our next game in Lagos.”

Ikorodu City currently sit 11th on the NPFL table with 14 points from 11 matches.

The Oga Boys will now turn their attention to their next league fixture, where they will host local rivals Inter Lagos in a Lagos derby.
