Man arrested on suspicion of murder also under investigation over five aggravated burglaries

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder while also being investigated over five aggravated burglaries, Greater Manchester Police has said.
The arrest comes after a man in his 70s was found dead during a search of an address on Whitstable Close in Chadderton, Oldham. He is believed to have died between November 4-7.
Police said his death is being treated as suspicious and his loved ones have been informed.
The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and murder.
He had already been arrested in relation to five aggravated burglaries between January and October this year when detectives linked him to the murder case.
The victims in the burglaries had all been targeted similarly, with the suspect attempting to or gaining entry to their properties before demanding they hand over their bank cards and pin codes, the force said.

The suspect remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Amber Waywell said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the gentleman who has sadly died and with his family and loved ones at what will be an incredibly difficult and distressing time.
“This remains a complex and developing investigation, and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
“I would like to thank the outstanding work of our detectives, who have shown real determination and persistence throughout this investigation.”
She added: “Let me be clear: we take offences like these incredibly seriously, and we will not tolerate those who seek to prey on vulnerable members of our communities.”
Police have urged any potential victims of a similar crime which could be linked to get in touch with them.
