KANGAR, Nov 7 — Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) graduates must be trustworthy and uphold integrity, respect differences and stand by the truth - qualities that should guide them as they embark on their careers and future lives.
Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also UniSIRAJ Chancellor, said knowledge developed one’s ability to think and solve problems, while good manners reflected one’s values.
“Ensure that academic excellence and expertise are always accompanied by strong moral values and principles,” he said at the 9th UniSIRAJ Convocation Ceremony at Dewan 2020 here today.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said that in an era of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital advancement, the pursuit of knowledge must always go hand in hand with noble values and strong principles.
He also said graduates should build their careers diligently, discharge their responsibilities well and leverage their expertise to generate ideas and solutions that would add value to organisations and society.
“Success is not merely about positions, income or personal achievements, but also about the benefits one brings to others. The journey after convocation will not necessarily be easy.
“Failures, competition and changes will test one’s abilities. Turn every challenge into an opportunity to learn, address weaknesses and improve one’s capabilities. Face them with patience, perseverance and faith in Allah, without compromising one’s principles or self-respect,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said knowledge and expertise must translate into actions that bring benefits to others. Those who become leaders should lead with integrity, educators should teach with a strong sense of responsibility, while professionals should carry out their duties conscientiously and prioritise the interests of humanity.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said every position and opportunity should be regarded as a platform to serve others.
At the convocation ceremony, the Raja Muda of Perlis also presented the Chancellor’s Award (Martabat Al-Syaraf Al-Ula) to Maryam Al Adzra Mohd Zawawi, a Bachelor of Hadith graduate from the Faculty of Al-Quran and Sunnah, who achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.95.
A total of 277 UniSIRAJ graduates received their respective Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s, Bachelor’s and Diploma scrolls at the ceremony. — Bernama
