Western Cape weather: What to expect this first October weekend

Translate

The Western Cape can expect a mixed start to the weekend, with showers in several areas and severe thunderstorms threatening Beaufort West Municipality.

A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms covers Beaufort West Municipality. Heavy downpours, hail, excessive lightning and strong, gusty winds could cause localised flooding of settlements, roads and bridges.

The warning also covers parts of the Northern Cape.

Mixed conditions across the Western Cape

The extreme western parts of the Western Cape can expect partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions.

Cloudy and cold conditions will dominate elsewhere, with isolated showers. Scattered showers are expected along the eastern parts of the south coast and eastern interior.

Coastal winds will remain light southerly to south-westerly along the south coast during the morning. Moderate south-easterly winds will dominate elsewhere, becoming fresh to strong along the west and south-west coasts.
