Goncalves on Fiorentina move: ‘I said yes to them in an instant’

Pedro Goncalves has revealed how quickly he agreed to join Fiorentina, and that Saudi money never came close to tempting him.
Speaking to La Nazione, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the forward reflected on a deadline-day switch from Sporting CP.
“I was ready to leave Portugal, but I only wanted Europe. England, Spain or Italy. Saudi Arabia? There was something there but it didn’t interest me,” he said. “The first contact with Fiorentina was between my manager and director Paratici, then I said yes in an instant.”
Goncalves using the break to reach full fitness
The forward arrived on loan in the closing hours of the window and has been building up since, with the international break arriving at a useful moment.
“Let’s say I needed three weeks to be at my best, and given the pause in the league, I’d say we’re there.”
He is also clear about what he intends to contribute. “It’s become clear I intend to score a lot of goals, hasn’t it? I’m pleased to be considered the most important signing alongside Mastantuono, but I don’t think about it.”
Goncalves and Franco Mastantuono, on loan from Real Madrid, represent the attacking quality the Viola have been short of, and both will be expected to deliver once Serie A resumes.
