Indonesia completes 250 strategic projects worth Rp2,396 trillion

The government reported that 250 National Strategic Projects (PSN) had been completed between 2016 and October 29, 2026, with a total investment value of Rp2,396 trillion (US$132 billion).
In 2026, six PSN projects had been completed out of the 10 targeted for completion throughout the year.
"There are still four projects targeted for completion by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, 30 other PSN projects are still in the construction phase," Suroto, assistant deputy for economic zone development and strategic projects at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said on Friday.
A 2023 study by the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Economics and Business (LPEM FEB UI) estimated that PSN would generate Rp3,344 trillion (US$184.31 billion) in economic output and contribute Rp1,564 trillion (US$86.19 billion) to gross domestic product (GDP).
The projects were also estimated to generate Rp1,134 trillion (US$62.49 billion) in labor income and create 7.9 million jobs.
Suroto said the study found that PSN investments generated a multiplier effect of 1.919, highlighting their contribution to broader economic activity.
Beyond their contribution to national GDP, he noted, PSN projects also generate economic benefits for regional economies.
One example is the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KIT Batang), which has employed 26,871 people, including construction workers, employees of industrial tenants, and area managers.
Around 70 percent of these workers are from Batang District, reflecting substantial local community involvement in the development of the strategic project.
Batang District's economy was projected to grow by 7.79 percent in 2025, exceeding Central Java's growth of 5.37 percent.
Meanwhile, employment at KIT Batang is projected to increase to 33,237 people by 2026.
"This achievement demonstrates how PSN, particularly industrial estates, can stimulate regional economic growth through job creation, higher household incomes, and the growth of supporting businesses in surrounding areas," Suroto said.
