“Speedy granny” back on Bangkok roads during rush hour

BANGKOK — 14 September 2026, A local social media page has shared images of a “speedy granny” once again taking her electric three-wheeled vehicle onto Bangkok roads, prompting renewed concerns over road safety.

The Facebook page “Ban Eua-Athorn, My Home, Bang Khae District” posted photos and an account of the elderly woman riding the electric tricycle during the evening rush hour at around 16:50 on 14 September.

Traffic was reportedly heavy at the time.

The post said similar incidents involving the woman had been seen repeatedly, raising concerns among local residents that the vehicle could be involved in an accident, particularly when travelling on busy roads.

Residents have called on relevant authorities to look into the situation and find a solution to prevent a possible accident.

Some comments on the post included: “I can only sigh when I see this,” and “Why don’t they stop her? She is often seen on major roads and could cause trouble for other people.”
