Man Arrested On ‘Miami Vice 85’ Brooklyn Set After Threatening Crew With Butcher Knife

Filming on Miami Vice ’85 was disrupted on Friday night when a man threatened a member of the production with a butcher knife.
According to an NYPD spokesperson, 23-year-old Alex Perez of Brooklyn was arrested at around 11:15pm on charges of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon after police were called to the vicinity of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue.
A member of the production team told police that Perez drew the knife after a verbal dispute, “causing him to become fearful for his safety.”
Perez was taken into custody and the knife was recovered with no injuries. Deadline has reached out to Universal for a comment.
Filming began this month on Miami Vice ’85 around New Jersey and New York City, where Michael B. Jordan has been seen shooting in character as Ricardo Tubbs.
Last year, Universal set a reboot of the 1980s NBC series from director Joseph Kosinski and a script by Dan Gilroy and Eric Warren Singer. Jordan was cast as Tubbs in the movie, with Austin Butler taking on the role of Sonny Crockett.
The cast also includes Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Danny Ramirez, John Leguizamo, Andrew Schulz, Walton Goggins, André Holland, Michael Irby and Haley Lu Richardson.
