Warning: Major SPOILERS for MobLand season 2’s fourth episode “Blank Curtain”.

Harry Da Souza just made a decision he might come to regret in MobLand’s second season. Following the explosive ending to the season’s third episode, Tom Hardy’s protagonist has let the character who poses the biggest threat to both him and the Harrigan crime family slip away from his clutches unscathed.

While season 2 has a terrifying new villain, its most dangerous character is actually a Harrigan insider, whose maneuvering has the potential to bring down the family’s entire crime empire. In MobLand’s latest episode "Blank Curtain", Harry manages to gain the upper hand, only to let this treacherous Harrigan off the hook.

The episode could well prove to be a turning point for the season as a whole. Although Harry’s meeting with Frankie Cooper is MobLand season 2’s standout moment so far, the aftermath of this meeting could have been even more dramatic. When Harry grows suspicious about one particular Harrigan family member, it looks as though they won’t survive his interrogation.

On the contrary, they don’t just survive – Tom Hardy’s fixer appears to have something else in mind for them altogether. Played with deft restraint by Mandeep Dhillon, Seraphina Harrigan is a MobLand character who’s especially hard to read. On the surface, she appears to be Conrad Harrigan’s pampered favorite child, with an eye for a deal but little weight to throw around. In reality, though, there’s more to her than surface appearances suggest.

We’ve already seen a clear change in Harry Da Souza during MobLand season 2, in that he no longer seems to be ahead of the danger that awaits both him and the Harrigan family. His treatment of Seraphina Harrigan in the season’s fourth episode is the perfect example of this change.

In episode 3, "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg", Harry establishes that Seraphina already knew about his meeting with Frankie Cooper before he told her about it, and about who he was meeting, specifically, before he did. He infers that she must be working with Kat McAllister against her own father, Conrad Harrigan, and confronts her about this betrayal in season 2’s fourth episode.

Seraphina is forced to admit what she’s done, and expects Harry to kill her as a result, asking him, “If you’re gonna do it, can you just please do it now?” Yet, Harry spares her, telling her simply to go home and wait for his call. It’s noteworthy, too, that he doesn’t share his suspicions about Seraphina with Conrad when he has the chance to, earlier in the episode.

Clearly, Harry sees the knowledge he has about Seraphina’s betrayal as a card he can play when required. He can hold this knowledge over her, and use her as a bargain chip to protect himself if he needs to. It’s very possible that he also plans to blackmail Seraphina into double-crossing McAllister or Frankie, or into otherwise doing his bidding.

Seraphina Is Secretly Season 2’s Most Dangerous Character

Seraphina in MobLand Season 2 Episode 3

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Mandeep Dhillon revealed that Seraphina’s plans in MobLand are bigger than anything we’ve seen from her so far. She’s aiming high, and has every intention of being a crime boss herself some time soon. “She's not afraid to step on anyone, use anyone,” Dhillon explained, “whatever it's going to take to get to the top.”

Question 1 of 3

Seraphina’s ambitions make her the most dangerous character in MobLand this season. Unlike Frankie Cooper, no one really sees her as a genuine threat, except for Harry, given what he knows. Even Harry primarily sees her as someone he can control and use.

However, neither he, nor Conrad, Maeve, or Kat McAllister realize just how far Seraphina is actually willing to go to get what she wants. Everyone in MobLand leaves their guard down with her to one degree or another, and nobody believes what she’s truly capable of. For this reason, she’s more of a danger to Harry and the Harrigans than either Frankie or Kat.
