Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed, during a meeting held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, evening, progress in completing the remaining phases of Knowledge City in the New Capital, as well as efforts to maximize its potential in developing the communications and information technology industry, building digital talent and creating high-value job opportunities.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi and Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) Khaled Abbas.

During the meeting, Hindi said Knowledge City was one of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s flagship projects. It represents an integrated information community equipped with advanced information infrastructure and laboratories, bringing together specialized technology training, academic education, research and development in advanced technologies, innovation and entrepreneurship. It also hosts local and international companies operating in the communications and information technology sector, providing an environment that promotes integration between academic and research institutions and businesses, attracts investment and supports the growth of the IT industry.

The minister said the ministry was keen to make the most of Knowledge City’s assets in the New Capital by strengthening cooperation among the institutions based there and expanding partnerships with technology companies. These efforts aim to develop digital skills, prepare specialists in various communications and IT fields, equip young people for future jobs, and support research, development and innovation in advanced technologies.

The first phase of Knowledge City includes the Imhotep Centre for Creativity and Development, which hosts a number of local and international companies specializing in electronic circuit design and automotive embedded systems. The centre also houses specialized laboratories for the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, and the design and manufacture of integrated electronic circuits, helping build national capabilities in these industries.

The first phase also includes branches of the Information Technology Institute and the National Telecommunications Institute, which offer specialized training programs in various communications and IT fields through advanced technology laboratories equipped with the latest technologies and in cooperation with leading international companies. This helps prepare digital professionals and strengthen their competitiveness in regional and international labour markets.

It also encompasses the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, which serves as a centre for innovation, research and entrepreneurship in assistive technologies. The academy seeks to empower persons with disabilities to contribute effectively to social and economic development through tailored capacity-building programs that enhance their independence and employment opportunities. It also supports innovators and developers in creating solutions in information and communications technology.

Knowledge City is also home to Egypt University of Informatics, established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to prepare digital talent. The university offers students opportunities to earn dual degrees through partnerships with a number of prestigious international universities.

The university recently graduated its second cohort from the faculties of Computing and Information Sciences, Business Technology, and Digital Arts and Design, as well as its first cohort from the Faculty of Engineering.
