EUROMATCH NPFL: Barau FC Extend Unbeaten Run After 1-1 Draw at Sporting Lagos

Newly promoted Barau FC have continued their fairytale start to life in the NPFL, extending their unbeaten run to six games after a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Sporting Lagos on Saturday.

Barau went into the game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as league leaders with 11 points from five matches — three wins and two draws — after beating Abia Warriors 2-0 in midweek.

Sporting Lagos, who shocked nine-time champions Enyimba 3-2 in Aba on Matchday 5, were looking to end Barau’s run in front of their home fans.

But Barau showed resilience again to pick up a point on the road and the result means Barau FC still top the league standing on 12 points.

For Sporting Lagos who were 11th before kick-off, now take their points tally to seven.

Barau are now one of four teams still unbeaten this season alongside Rangers, Doma United and Rivers United, with their unbeaten run becoming a real psychological weapon in the early title race. 9699
