Woman filmed while bathing; blackmailed and sexually assaulted for 6 months in Bihar

PATNA: In a chilling case of voyeurism and blackmail, a woman in Banka district has alleged that two men filmed her while she was bathing and then used the photographs and videos to sexually assault her for over six months, police said on Wednesday.This is the second major case to emerge from Banka in a week after the Mandar Parvat molestation video, highlighting a spate of crimes against women in Bihar that has triggered a political firestorm.According to the FIR lodged at Shambhuganj police station, the woman has named two accused - Shivam Sharma and Rahul Sharma, both residents of Sotichak village.Police said that a woman has alleged that two men sexually assaulted her after threatening to circulate photographs and videos of her bathing on social media.The complaint stated that the accused had taken photographs of her while she was bathing without her knowledge. They then threatened to make the photos public.According to the FIR, the woman alleged that the two men had sexual relations with her between February 11 and August 8, 2026, after threatening to make public photographs of her taken while she was bathing.Distressed over the alleged incidents, the woman approached Shambhuganj police station on September 28 evening and submitted a written complaint seeking action.

Immediately after the complaint, a police team led by SDPO Amar Vishwas visited the alleged crime scene on Tuesday, while a forensic team from Bhagalpur collected samples from the spot.SDPO Vishwas said, "the samples will be sent for forensic examination and further legal action will be taken based on the report. Raids are on to arrest the accused."
