Metal Gear Solid Officially Returns April 2027 In New Premium Release

The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the most consistently excellent in the world of video games, and that makes it all the more galling that we might not get another game tied to the IP ever again. Hideo Kojima left Konami to form his own studio, moving on from the series that made him so well-known and appreciated in the first place.

While Konami does still own the rights and could develop a new title if they wish, there's a certain amount of the audience who wouldn't be willing to play without Kojima's involvement. With that in mind, the series' future is much more up in the air than anyone would have expected before Kojima's departure, and it will be interesting to see if Konami plans to do anything else with it beyond remakes and remasters.

While we wait to hear more, there are tertiary releases tied to the franchise coming all the time, and one is set to debut in April that could be the best of the bunch.

Over on the official Forbidden Planet website, you should be able to find the product page for the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater: Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Action Figure: Naked Snake, manufactured by Kaiyodo. The highly detailed figure is due for release in April, 2027, with a specific date yet to be provided by the manufacturer.

In sharing a little about what fans can expect from the product, Forbidden Planet shared the following description:

"Naked Snake, the protagonist of “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” and later known as the legendary mercenary Big Boss,” joins the Amazing Yamaguchi series! He is sculpted in the latest sneaking suit he acquired during his infiltration missions. The entire body is articulated to express his stealth action.

"He can realistically hold his included firearms and knife, and even assume a prone position. His rugged face with a scruffy beard features a built-in movable eyeball gimmick. Unique items such as the “!” mark that appears above enemies’ heads, the Kerotan hidden on the map, and his beloved cardboard box are also included, allowing you to enjoy various scenes from the game!"

While it obviously isn't quite the same as getting a new video game to look forward to, it is one of the standout physical releases tied to the franchise in recent times.

Beyond that, it's simply going to be a case of sitting tight and waiting to see what comes next for fans of Metal Gear Solid. It seems unlikely that a return to the heady days of new entries like Phantom Pain is coming any time soon, though, so it might be best to look elsewhere for a while if you're looking for video game kicks.
