D2 GIRLS TENNIS: Teams advance to Doubles Championship semifinals

The top programs advanced teams to the semifinals of the District 2 Doubles Championships after the tournament's first day.

In Class 3A, top-seeded Amishi Amit-Sammy Rosenstein of Abington Heights will play West Scranton's Chiara Pugliese-Marissa Shafer, the No. 5 seed, in one semifinal. Abington Heights' second team, Kate Arp-Margot Rubner, the second seed, will face No. 3 Anna Clementoni-Cameron Forgione of North Pocono.

Top-seeded Lily Lengel-Adithi Velaga of Scranton Prep takes on fifth-seeded Katie Zhang-Kate Minella of Wyoming Seminary in a Class 2A semifinal. Montrose's Anna Evans-Erin Tillotson, the No. 2 seed, will play third-seeded Lizzie Weaver-CeCe Pons of Wyoming Seminary.

Semifinal matches start at 11 a.m. at Kirby Park, with the finals to follow.
