The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) co-chairperson, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, says that police and the army will curb acts of violence proliferated by any “groups”.
Speaking at the police headquarters in Durban, she said: “No group will be allowed to threaten sporting fixtures, obstruct lawful gatherings or dictate whether people may exercise their rights through intimidation and violence.”
Operations from authorities were not directed against any nationality or community, she added.
“They are directed against criminal conduct. Every person in South Africa, regardless of nationality or background, is entitled to protection under the law”.
