The Traitors: New Blood Trailer Reveals NBC’s New Take On Alan Cumming’s Series

Growing up around performers, storytelling was always central to Emma's life. Add in a nerdy older brother who introduced her to Marvel at far too young an age, and her love for entertainment led her to pursue a Journalism degree at Indiana University, where she discovered her passion for entertainment reporting. She spent nearly one year in Los Angeles covering industry stories and fully immersing herself in the world of entertainment media.

The first trailer for The Traitors: New Blood has arrived, revealing a new group of contestants entering Alan Cumming's castle.
The upcoming NBC series puts a new spin on the Emmy-winning competition by featuring everyday Americans instead of the celebrities and reality TV stars who compete on Peacock's The Traitors. The Traitors: New Blood will premiere Thursday, September 17, with a special two-hour premiere from 8:00 to 10:00 PM ET.
NBC has now released the 2-minute, 29-second trailer for The Traitors: New Blood, offering a first look at returning host Cumming alongside the show's new cast. The footage shows the new players entering the game, along with glimpses of the missions, Round Table, and confessionals that will follow as the Faithful try to determine who among them is a Traitor.
The cast comes from a wide range of professions, including astrophysicist Abby Lee, funeral director Joe Vanella, barrel racer Ben McDonnell, physician Jay Vinnedge, nurse Abbey Benjamin, and marketing manager Katie Fites. The show's newly released key art leans into the change with the tagline, "Ordinary People. Extraordinary Deceit."
Meanwhile, season 4 of The Traitors included many familiar faces like Love Island stars Rob Rausch (season finale winner) and Maura Higgins, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Lisa Rinna, Survivor veteran Rob Cesternino, and Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski, among others. New Blood won't have that same dynamic. For viewers, that means there aren't years of reality TV appearances to use when deciding who seems trustworthy.
NBC first announced plans for a civilian version of The Traitors in August 2025, expanding the franchise beyond the familiar faces featured on Peacock's version. However, the basic rules of the game remain the same. Contestants will work together on missions to build a prize fund worth up to $250,000 while the Traitors secretly eliminate the Faithful one by one. If the remaining Faithful banish every Traitor, they share the prize fund. If even one Traitor survives until the end, the Traitors take it all.
That could make it even harder to predict who is actually lying. Experienced reality competitors can enter the castle with reputations, previous strategies, or relationships that affect how other players view them. Most of the New Blood contestants will instead have to make those first impressions inside the game.
The new series also arrives as the flagship show continues its successful run on Peacock. The Traitors season 4 earned six Emmy nominations in 2026, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program, after the series won the category the previous two years.
The Traitors: New Blood premieres with episodes 1 and 2 on Thursday, September 17, at 8:00 PM ET and 5:00 PM PT on NBC. Episodes 3 and 4 will air back-to-back beginning on September 24, with additional episodes airing Thursdays and streaming the following day on Peacock.
