Member of Parliament Tawakal Midtimbang enjoys a more than 50,000-vote lead over his closest competitors
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Member of Parliament Tawakal Midtimbang is currently at the top of the polls in the 1st District of Maguindanao del Sur during the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.
Running under the banner of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, the political arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Midtimbang has received 59,722 votes, according to 90.33% of total election returns as of September 14, 9:29 pm.
Tawakal Midtimbang enjoys a more than 50,000-vote lead over his closest competitors, Al-Ittihad-Ungaya sa Kawagib Nu Bangsamoro bet Bobby Midtimbang.
Tawakal previously served as vice mayor of Guindulungan town. He is the son of Datu Midpantao Midtimbang, a former member of parliament, former vice governor of Maguindanao, and former mayor of Guindulungan.
Datu Midpantao is the brother of former Maguindanao governor Ali Midtimbang, making Tawakal Ali’s nephew. – Rappler.com
