Former Rumble Pony breaks Mets rookie stolen bases record

QUEENS, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A New York Met who started this season as a Binghamton Rumble Pony, broke the franchise record for stolen bases by a rookie.

AJ Ewing recorded 25 stolen bases for the Mets this year, breaking Mookie Wilson's record of 24 in 1981.

Ewing has had a solid rookie season, batting .257 with 10 homers and 40 RBI. He started the season with the Rumble Ponies and played 12 games with Triple-A Syracuse before getting the call to the big leagues in May.
