Married couple killed in Tampin crash

TAMPIN: A married couple died in an accident involving two vehicles on Jalan Gemencheh today.

District police chief superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said that in the 10.55am incident, the 26-year-old woman, who was the front passenger in a Proton Wira car, died at the scene, while her 27-year-old husband, who was the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the Gemencheh Klinik Kesihatan.

He said the accident occurred when the car the victims were in was travelling from Gemencheh to Bukit Rokan, while the other vehicle, a Perodua Bezza was coming from Bukit Rokan heading towards Gemencheh.

"Upon arriving at the scene, the car driven by the victim was believed to have lost control before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the Perodua Bezza.

"Due to the incident, the couple was confirmed dead while their four-year-old son was injured and taken to the Tampin Hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement today.

Amiruddien said the bodies of both victims were taken to the Tampin Hospital's forensic unit for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
