Mohun Bagan held by United SC in Calcutta Football League 2026 Super Six

A last grasp equaliser from Sumay Shome helped United SC hold Mohun Bagan to a 1-1 in the latest round of fixtures of the Calcutta Football League 2026 Super Six on Monday.

With the result, Mohun Bagan remained in the top of the table with one win and one draw from two games while United SC stayed at third with two draws from two games.

Bagan will next face Mohammedan SC, which is second in the table, while United SC will lock horns with Bhawanipore FC in its next fixture.

AS IT HAPPENED

It was a game that was dominated by MBSG right from kickoff. The Subhashish Bose-led side enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, consistently creating chances through its playmakers in the midfield, Kiyan Nassiri and Sahal Abdul Samad.

However, despite keeping the intensity going and continue to press, Bagan could not find the opening in the first 45 minutes and as the game headed towards its close, it seemed like the contest would end in a goalless draw.

But the seven minutes of stoppage time after the first 90 opened the floodgates not once, but twice courtesy thanks to two costly goalkeeping errors.

Sandeep Malik opened the scoring in the first minute of stoppage time via a Kiyan Nassiri cross. It wasn’t the greatest deliveries from the youngster but as luck would have it, United SC keeper Susovan Ghosh failed to collect the ball cleanly and spilled it to Sandeep, who completed a simple finish.

Bagan’s celebrations, however, did not last long as United SC’s Sumay found the equaliser just a few minutes later.

The forward made the most of a messy clearance by the Bagan backline off a freekick to head home the equaliser through the hands of keeper Deeprobhat Ghosh.
