Peacock’s ‘The Good Daughter’ Trailer: Rose Byrne, Meghann Fahy Attempt to Solve Small-Town Murder in Suspenseful Thriller Series
“There‘s more to the story than what you‘re hearing,“ Brendan Gleeson warns in the trailer for Peacock‘s upcoming mystery series The Good Daughter.
In the trailer, released Tuesday, stars Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne star as sisters working to solve a murder mystery. The show also tells an “emotional story about love, family and resilience.“
The synopsis reads: “Sisters Charlotte (Fahy) and Samantha (Byrne) Quinn have spent the last 20 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte — now a lawyer like her father — is the first witness on the scene. As the case unfolds and twists through painful memories and buried secrets, what emerges is not just a story of survival, but of enduring ties between a father and his daughters and the complex bond between sisters.“
The Good Daughter is adapted from Karin Slaughter‘s bestselling novel. For the series, the author is also the showrunner, writer and executive producer.
“The Good Daughter is a story of love, family and the unbreakable bond between two resilient, funny, difficult sisters. It’s thrilling to watch Charlie and Sam brought to life by two extraordinarily talented women. Rose and Meghann perfectly captured the sister relationship — all the history, heartache and joy — wrapped inside this puzzle of a mystery,“ Slaugther said in a statement.
In the trailer, Fahy and Byrne are seen joining forces to solve a murder mystery in their small town with a teen pinpointed as the prime suspect.
“When you keep a secret, it can turn you into a person you don’t want to be,“ Fahy says in the trailer that teases there‘s more to Charlotte and Sam‘s past than they may admit.
Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver for Made Up Stories and Byrne also exec produce with additional exec producer Steph Green directing.
The series, produced by Made Up Stories in partnership with global film and TV studio Fifth Season, also stars Olivia Williams, Harper Steele, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall and Drew Cheek.
