Ade Edmondson gets candid about his father in exclusive look at Sam & Ade Go Birding season 2

Samuel West and Ade Edmondson are back for a second season of Sam & Ade Go Birding, as they travel through spectacular landscapes in search of Britain's extraordinary wildlife.

Across the series, the duo travel from the Yorkshire Dales to West Wales, as they share stories and the occasional pint as Ade's passion for birding deepens.

In an exclusive clip, Ade shows Sam photos of his father and recalls his father's less-than-successful attempts to teach him the birds and the bees as a teenager.

"I could tell that he'd been sent out by my mum so that he could tell me the facts of life," Ade explained. "At the end he said, 'Now Adrian, when I was a young man I think I spent too long on my bicycle' and that was the end of the lecture!"

Zooming in on more childhood photos of him, Ade reflected: "I think he was always disappointed in me. Even when I was objectively kind of successful he enjoyed the fact that I was on television but doing the 'horrible sweary comedy'. I think he wanted a doctor or a lawyer."

Elsewhere in the episode, Ade picks Sam up from the set of All Creatures Great and Small for a weekend of birding. Their adventure begins with an after-work pint by the river, watching swallows, swifts and house martins swoop and wheel overhead in a dazzling aerial display.

The synopsis for the first episode continues: "Sam takes Ade to a farm used as a location in the first series of All Creatures. There, sitting quietly together, they watch a swallow repeatedly return to its nest to feed its newly hatched chicks – a small but enchanting glimpse of family life in the natural world.

"The following morning, Ade brings out his guitar while Sam checks the local patch, before the pair head high onto the moor in search of curlews. There, they meet one of the threatened bird’s most devoted champions and discover why protecting this striking, much-loved species matters so deeply."
