Netflix Signs Global Deal For Preschool Content From ChuChu TV

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is opening Cookbook Media‘s preschool franchise ChuChu TV.
The streamer has struck a global content deal that comprises four ChuChu TV collections, including ChuChu TV Surprise Eggs, ChuChu TV Drawing with ChuChu, ChuChu TV Colors in FunZone, and ChuChu TV Nursery Rhymes in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
ChuChu TV began life in Chennai, India, in 2013 and currently has more than 180 million subscribers to its content and an cumulative 110 billion views. Similar to preschool brands like CoComelon, the brand comprises colorful, music-driven animated content that combines entertainment and early learning storytelling.
New York’s Cookbook has represented ChuChu TV’s content and consumer products in North American since last year, and now has rights to the wider franchise, including developing new merchandising partnerships and spinoff series.
“ChuChu TV has already built an extensive network of fans around the world, and bringing its content to Netflix will further unlock franchise opportunities as we continue to build out ChuChu TV’s reach in consumer products, marketing partnerships, and content business worldwide,” said Claudia Scott-Hansen and Rob Bencal, co-founders of Cookbook, in a statement.
“ChuChu TV launched with a simple idea – to create joyful, engaging content for children – and seeing that vision reach families around the world through Netflix is an incredibly exciting milestone for us,” said Vinoth Chandar, founder and creator of ChuChu TV.
