Former Spain international David Silva has returned to professional football at the age of 40 after signing for Hong Kong Premier League side Sha Tin on Wednesday.
Silva, who spent a decade at Manchester City, retired in 2023 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during pre-season training with Real Sociedad.
The midfielder enjoyed a glittering career, winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup and two European Championship titles with Spain. At club level, he lifted four Premier League trophies during his time with Manchester City.

Silva said he was excited about beginning a new chapter in Hong Kong and was looking forward to experiencing the local culture, food and football.
Sha Tin, who were promoted to the top flight, are currently eighth in the standings after four matches.
The club is next scheduled to face Hong Kong Football Club on October 18.
Sha Tin said Silva would soon arrive in Hong Kong, join first-team training and work towards full match fitness before making his debut.
