Jambi (ANTARA) - Haze blanketing Jambi reduced visibility and delayed several arrivals and departures at Sultan Thaha Airport on Thursday, disrupting flight operations at the airport.

Sultan Thaha Airport Executive General Manager Ardon Marbun said PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia recorded visibility of about 1,500 meters at 6 a.m. local time.

At that time, one departure, Batik Air flight ID 6807 to Jakarta, took off successfully using an aircraft that had remained overnight at the airport.

From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., visibility fluctuated between 1,200 and 1,500 meters, briefly falling to 1,000 meters, he said.

The conditions delayed boarding for another overnight aircraft, Super Air Jet flight IU 874 to Batam, which was scheduled to depart at 10:28 a.m.

Meanwhile, Susi Air flight SI 7219 from Dabo Singkep, Riau Islands, landed at 7:45 a.m. and continued to Kerinci as flight SI 7223 at 8:15 a.m.

By 11 a.m., six commercial flights had been delayed, including three arrivals and three departures, according to the airport operator.

The delayed arrivals were Batik Air ID 6804 from Jakarta, scheduled at 10:15 a.m.; Citilink QG 960 from Jakarta at 10:25 a.m.; and Garuda Indonesia GA 126 from Jakarta at 10:25 a.m.

The delayed departures were Citilink QG 961 to Jakarta, scheduled at 10:55 a.m.; Batik Air ID 6805 to Jakarta at 11 a.m.; and Garuda Indonesia GA 127 to Jakarta at 11:10 a.m.

Ardon said Sultan Thaha Airport's operations team was coordinating closely with airlines and relevant agencies to ensure the best possible handling of affected passengers.

The team was also providing regular updates on flight schedules, he said.

The airport operator urged passengers to actively check flight status and schedule updates through each airline's official channels.
