[UPDATED] Lee Chean Chung to quit PKR by Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR lawmaker Lee Chean Chung will resign from the party by Monday (Oct 5).
Speaking at a press conference to announce his decision, the Petaling Jaya member of parliament said he had received a party decision on Sept 30 suspending his membership for three years.
"I will submit the letter to quit the party by Monday.
"I received my black and white, the letter of suspension, on Wednesday evening.
"It was very shocking to me because the media knew about it before I did," he said.
Lee claimed he was not allowed to provide a statement or attend a hearing over the past three months.
"But it's okay, we move on," he said.
Asked whether he planned to join another party, Lee said he had made a decision but wanted to focus on his resignation as Petaling Jaya MP for now.
Earlier, Lee announced his resignation as Petaling Jaya MP effective today.
His resignation follows reports that he faced party suspension after attending an event organised by former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's Parti Bersama Malaysia.
The strained ties between Lee and PKR escalated in early June when he claimed his access to constituency allocations via the MyKhas portal was blocked after attending the Bersama event.
He questioned the action, stating he remained an MP supporting the unity government, had never declared leaving the government bloc, and had not voted against the administration.
On June 12, Lee had announced his resignation from the party's Central Leadership Council.
Lee, however, said at the time that he would remain a PKR member and continue serving as the Petaling Jaya MP until the current parliamentary term ends.
He had also said he had made the decision as he could no longer continue working with the party leadership, claiming that it had failed to address what he described as mistakes within the party.
