Mars opens first Pringles factory in Thailand with 7 billion baht investment

CHONBURI — 23 September 2026, Mars has officially opened its first Pringles® manufacturing facility in Thailand, backed by an investment of more than 7 billion baht, and launched its second production line to boost exports across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region.

Located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Chonburi, the 73,800-square-metre factory is part of a 208,000-square-metre site. Operations began in late 2025, with Pringles® currently produced in Thailand and exported to India, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Mars plans to expand exports to additional markets.

The second production line began operations in September 2026, increasing the plant’s capacity to meet growing regional demand. The company also plans to launch a third production line in late 2027 as part of its longer-term expansion.

Mars began construction of the facility in October 2023. The plant was designed as a smart factory using digital systems and advanced manufacturing technologies, including real-time production-line dashboards and equipment performance monitoring. The data is used to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

The facility initially created more than 170 direct jobs, with men and women making up roughly equal shares of the workforce. Women account for about 50% of leadership positions at the plant, according to Mars, reflecting the company’s focus on developing local talent and creating an inclusive workplace.

The investment also connects the facility with Thailand’s domestic supply chain. Nearly 50% of the factory’s procurement budget comes from suppliers in Thailand, which Mars said would support local businesses and generate wider economic value.

Gabriel Fernandez, president of Mars Snacking for the AMEA region, said the factory opening and launch of the second production line reflected Mars’ long-term commitment to Thailand as a manufacturing and export hub.

“Thailand plays an important role in expanding the Pringles® business across the AMEA region and delivering products to consumers throughout the region,” Fernandez said.

Anin Mekasuksai, director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Division at the Board of Investment (BOI), said Mars’ investment in Chonburi demonstrated Thailand’s potential as a base for advanced manufacturing and long-term foreign investment.

She said the facility would help create jobs, develop skills and strengthen the domestic supply chain.

The factory can produce Pringles® in a range of flavours to meet consumer preferences in different markets. Its location and increased capacity are expected to give Mars greater flexibility in adjusting production and shipments to regional markets.

Mars said the facility also incorporates energy-efficient manufacturing technologies, wastewater treatment systems, waste-reduction processes, recycling and resource-recovery measures.

The plant monitors energy and water use, waste and greenhouse gas emissions to support continuous improvements in operational efficiency and environmental performance.

Mars plans to launch the third production line in late 2027, further expanding the Chonburi plant’s role in the regional Pringles® manufacturing network and supporting exports to markets across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, as well as other markets in the future.
