WATCH: Highway 60 reopens to traffic after bus catches fire, no injuries reported
Traffic on Highway 60 reopened on Wednesday after a bus fire blocked both directions between Tapuach Junction and Rechelim, the Israel Police announced. No injuries were reported.
The Israel Police assisted firefighters on scene, the authority said, and initially asked drivers to avoid the area before reopening the road.
An additional fire occured in Tirat Carmel later on Wednesday after an electric bicycle battery experienced a thermal runaway incident, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority said.
Haifa firefighters responded to the emergency, which occured in the yard of a residential home.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, with no injuries reported and damage limited to the bicycle.
Following the bicycle fire, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority reiterated its safety guidelines for charging lithium batteries, including avoiding overcharging, excessive heat, and the use of damaged or uncertified chargers.
