Weather: Severe storms with heavy rain to hit SA provinces this WEEKEND

Here is what the weather has in store for KZN, the Free State, and the North West on Saturday 19 September 2026.

An Orange level 5 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours, with a possibility of strong winds, excessive lightning and hail expected over the Free State, while disruptive rain is expected in parts of KZN and the North West

KWAZULU-NATAL

It will be cloudy and cool, with isolated showers and rain.

Scattered showers along the coast and adjacent interior expected in some parts of KZN.

Along the coast, light and variable in the south at first, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.

The UVB sunburn index will be low.

DURBAN

Durban will be cloudy with scattered showers and rain.

The wind will be light and variable, becoming north-easterly

Temperatures will range from 15°C to 21°C.

FREE STATE

Cloudy, windy and cool, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the central and the western parts.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein will be cloudy and windy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 11°C to a maximum of 20°C.

NORTH WEST

North West province will experience cloudy, windy and cool to warm conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers over the west.

MAHIKENG

Mahikeng is going to be cloudy and windy.

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 15°C. to a maximum of 24°C.
