Few original fantasy creations have taken off at quite the same pace as Dungeon Crawler Carl. Since beginning its life as a web serial back in 2019, it has grown exponentially, and it now has just as many fans as some of the genuine big hitters in the genre, which remains about as competitive as it gets.
As such, there are all sorts of releases popping up that are designed to celebrate the burgeoning franchise, including further adaptations into other medium. Now, the latest of those is set to bring it out of the LitRPG space and into a much more traditional medium, and it could be one of the best games you play this year.
Dungeon Crawler Carl Rides Again
Over on the Renegade Game Studios website, you should be able to find the store listing for Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable, which is now available for pre-order. The original version of Unstoppable is a card-crafting and roguelike deck-building board game that has been specifically designed to be played by one person.
Anybody who has played games of this ilk as an adult before will tell you that the hardest part is getting everyone together in the first place. This bypasses that in a genre that's finally catching up to the idea that people are often happy to play by themselves, just as they do with single-player video games.
In sharing a little about the official Dungeon Crawler Carl version of the release, the manufacturer posted the following description, so you know exactly what you are getting for your pre-order:
“You Will Not Break Me… This version of Unstoppable is set in the 18-floor World Dungeon of the Dungeon Crawler Carl novel. Fight your way through mobs and bosses as Carl or Princess Donut! Play solo or bring along a friend for a co-op crawl!
“With this card-crafting system, each card is a sleeve with swappable parts. You’ll craft and customize your cards as you play! The power curve in this “momentum builder” gives you a fighting chance against the threats you’ll face.
“Explore a single floor of the World Dungeon each time you play. This box contains the first three floors. In true roguelite fashion, however, only a few benefits that you purchase with XP will carry over to the next floor!”
The game also comes with a ton of included contents, with everything you need to get started playing for yourself. Those include character cards, player mats, gold tokens, core and threat cards, markers, discs, sleeves and the rulebook that you'll want to study before jumping in for the first time.
More Dungeon Crawler Carl On The Way
This latest Dungeon Crawler Carl release might only be available for pre-order right now, but it's set to launch in November, so you won't have too long to wait to get playing. Outside of that, fans can also look forward to the live-action television adaptation, which is currently in production over at Peacock.
