Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Isn't The End - More Story Content Planned For 2028

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is confirmed to be the final entry in the FF7 Remake trilogy, but it’s not the end of the saga, as Square Enix has officially revealed that there is more story content already planned for 2028. The release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has finally been revealed (not a pun). Players can expect to see the game arriving on April 8. Contrary to the two previous entries in the remake series, FF7 Revelation will be released simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, meaning that this will not be a PlayStation limited-time exclusive.

While Revelation will tackle the final parts of the adventure of Cloud Strife and his party as they try to stop Sephiroth from destroying the planet, this is not the end of the FF7-related content. Square Enix has officially announced a couple of DLCs for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, as seen on the Steam page for the game’s Story Expansion Pass. The DLCs will tackle drastically different subjects, based on their names, and one of them is likely arriving at some point in early 2028.

The first of them is the Sephiroth-centered DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, called Sephiroth. It is listed as the first story DLC for the upcoming game. The second DLC, however, is called Vincent & the Turks. Exactly what it will portray is still unknown, and we’ll likely go some time without knowing precisely what it will feature, as Square Enix is mostly focused on the release of the base game in April. However, the title already gives us a bit of a teaser about what we can expect.

As is implied by its title, Vincent & the Turks will likely be focused on the mysterious character now interpreted by Matt Mercer in the English-dubbed version of the game. A lot about Vincent and his story is somewhat a mystery to anyone who hasn’t played Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, or Crisis Core. However, the matter of fact is that in his backstory, before joining Cloud Strife’s party, Vincent becomes a Turk in the Final Fantasy 7 timeline.

Without giving too much away, there is a connection between Vincent and the origin of Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7, and that may very well be openly explored in the two DLC packs planned for release. While the base game will tie the whole story together, the DLCs may fill in some very important gaps, especially when it comes to lore. Both expansions are set to be released between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, but considering Sephiroth is the first Story DLC, we’ll likely see it arrive in late 2027, followed by Vincent & the Turks in early 2028.

Vincent has one of the most appealing stories in the FF7 timeline, even if it is an underrated and lesser-known one. If the upcoming DLC in 2028 explores even a portion of that, perhaps without tackling the events of Dirge of Cerberus, it will be magnificent. I honestly can’t think of a better way of wrapping up the story content for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
