Filipino suspected of masterminding Laos crystal meth smuggling plot

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: A Filipino is believed to have masterminded an attempt to smuggle more than half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine from Laos to Manila on a private jet linked to a Malaysian-operated aviation company.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said preliminary investigations found that the individual had arranged to charter the aircraft for US$49,500 (RM202,250) to transport goods from Laos to the Philippines.

He said Malaysian police had shared information about the individual with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to help trace and arrest the suspect.
