EX-KAIZER CHIEFS SKIPPER NETS A BRACE FOR SV RIED IN NINE-GOAL THRILLER

Now, on the night, Maart opened the scoring and gave SV Ried the lead in the 37th minute after being set up by Rasner.

This was Maart’s first ever goal for the club, and it came in his second full season with the Austrian and a few weeks after signing an improved deal.

The former Kaizer Chiefs skipper was not done, and he completed his brace in the 77th minute to hand SV Ried a healthy 3-1 lead.

However, SV Ried collapsed completely in the final six minutes of the game as they allowed LASK to score twice and make it 3-3 after 90 minutes.

The game then went into extra time, and with the momentum on their side, LASK netted twice to make it 5-3.

SV Ried did try to mount a comeback but they could only score once, and that goal came deep into stoppage time.

Ultimately, Maart and his teammates crashed out of the OFB Cup with a 5-4 defeat in what a thrilling encounter.
